How does Disney Cruise Line (esp. onboard the Dream) deal with motion sickness in toddlers or adults?

Welcome aboard, Sulexan! Are you and your family getting ready to set sail on the high seas with Captain Mickey and his crew? Your voyage on the beautiful Disney Dream includes so much for everyone in the family, you'll have a truly magical adventure.

The Dream is a very large ship, so the movement you'll feel is usually pretty minimal, compared to the movement you may have experienced on a smaller boat. A few tips to minimize the feel of movement are to choose a mid-level, Midship stateroom. Staterooms in the middle of the boat will experience less rocking, so perhaps Midship on Decks 6, 7, or 8.

If you do experience motion sickness, the Health Center onboard recommended eating green apples, crackers and drinking ginger ale, as well as walking. Another tip is to go out on deck in the fresh air and look out at the horizon. This has a very stabilizing effect. If you worry that you really might have problems with the motion, speak with your doctor before you go for advice, or a possible prescription. I'm not a doctor, and fortunately do not suffer from motion sickness, but many friends I know who are prone to motion sickness have found that Dramamine, Bonine, and the Sea-Band bracelet all work well to help combat that sea sickness feeling, and are all available over the counter. It's best if you bring these from home, but in case you forget or need one at the last minute, there are a few options for sale in the gift shops onboard too.

Sulexan, hopefully you'll not experience any motion sickness when you set sail on the Disney Dream, but I'm glad you're planning ahead just in case, to sure you can enjoy every moment of your magical vacation! Have fun planning, and please feel free to stop back with any other questions as you continue to plan. We're happy to help!
