When at Disney I always stay on property using Disney transportation to feel more immersed in the "Disney feel". My family is planning a trip and may rent a car for the 1st time. Have you stayed with a car? Does it take away from the Disney fe

    Hi Amy,

My family almost always drives to Disney. There are times we stay on property & others we stay with family in Orlando.  No matter where I stay or how I get there, I always feel like I'm at home as soon as we pass through the Disney World signs.

Its really easy to navigate the property with a car. There are signs everywhere to help you reach your destination.  The few times I've gotten lost in pixie dust & missed a turn, I thought of it as a new adventure.

There are times when a car can come in quite handy.  I love driving to Downtown Disney so that I can run my new treasures to my car before going back for more. Its also super handy when trying to make a dining reservation somewhere without leaving 1 1/2 hours prior and stressing while waiting for a bus.

At the end of a long day in the parks, its sometimes nice to get in my own car and have a few minutes of quiet time.  My boys usually fall asleep and they are so cute and happy.  There are also times I can get back to my resort faster than using Disney transportation.

Another perk of having a car is that we can venture off property to stock up on supplies instead of having limited choices at a premium price.

If you are staying at a Disney Resort, parking is free of charge. You'll just need to show the Cast Member at the parking plaza your Resort Parking Permit.

If you are staying off property, the current fee for parking is $14.00 per day (please keep in mind that is subject to change at anytime without notice). Once you've paid the fee for the day, you are allowed to come and go to as many parks as you'd like during that day without being required to pay the parking fee again.

While Disney transportation can be awesome, having your own car does have advantages and your trip will still be filled with tons of pixie dust.  Wishing you minnie magical memories :-) Allison
