I have discovered that you can not enter the parks until you check in to your hotel. If I do the early online registration, will this activate my armbands? I also heard that you can ask at check in for a complimentary room upgrade, is this true?

    Hi Shannon,

Thanks for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel. If your tickets are a part of a Magic Your Way package attached to your resort reservation, you will need to check in first to be able to visit the parks. Online check in will not activate your Magic Bands so you will need to plan time to check in at the hotel before heading to the parks. I do recommend doing online check in because it can reduce the amount of time it takes when you reach the hotel.

If you purchased your tickets separately and added them to your Magic Band yourself, you should be able to use them to enter a park. Please remember that the MyMagic+ system is still in testing and subject to change at any time.

You can ask for a complimentary room upgrade, but I have to be honest, upgrades are rare. I have heard of people being successful, but those reports are far out-weighed by the unsuccessful ones. My husband and I try to book the room category we will be happy with. It would be a total bummer to count on an upgrade only to find out it wasn't possible. Spring time is very popular at Walt Disney World and the resorts usually run at high occupancy. Full resorts make the possibility of an upgrade even more remote.

Please be sure to let me know if I can help you with any other vacation planning questions. Wishing you a magical vacation,
