I was very disappointed to learn that Ariel's Grotto is permanently closed. A meal there, where my grandaughter was guaranteed to meet Ariel, was her main goal in visiting the parks. Will there be a different venue for a princess character meal?

Hi, Vanessa! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and thanks for your question!

Dining with the princesses at Ariel’s Grotto was always a highlight of our past trips, so I, too, was sad to learn of its closing earlier this year. As of right now, there isn’t another character meal that features princesses. However, I remain hopeful that a princess meal will be added in the future. Keep your eye on the Disney Parks Blog as your travel dates approach to see if they announce any news as to where to enjoy a meal with your favorite regal friends.

If meeting Ariel is on the top of your granddaughter’s must-do list, then I have some great news for her! Ariel is very regularly available to meet at Royal Hall in Fantasy Faire along with up to two other princesses. You will want to use the Disneyland app when you are in the parks to look up exact meeting times and locations for Ariel and all your other favorite characters. While character experiences are always subject to change and never guaranteed, I can tell you that I check the app very frequently and Ariel is available to meet almost every day.

Finally, if you are looking to make a reservation for another character meal, I 100 percent recommend the Minnie & Friends – Breakfast in the Park at the Plaza Inn. You get to meet so many diverse characters here while enjoying an expansive and tasty breakfast buffet. Reservations can be made online or by calling (714) 781-3463 up to 60 days in advance.

I hope this information was helpful. Happy planning!
