Hello Dis Mom's! DH, kiddos, and myself are booked for a value resort for 8 nights/9 days in August. We are considering upgrading to AK Resort for an additional $1500. Question is; Is it worth the extra moola? Thanks in advance!

Wow Jennifer! Nine days! Your family is destined to have a magical time eating Mickey ice cream, cruising through jungles, and zipping down Splash Mountain no matter what resort you choose.

Is a stay at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge worth the additional expense? That is the 1500 dollar question. Is sleeping with giraffes and zebras outside your window a once-in-a-lifetime event you are willing to splurge on? Then yes. Will forking over the extra cash put you so far over your vacation budget you will tense and anxious? Then no. A deluxe resort will offer you more room, a wonderful pool with a waterslide, table service restaurants at your doorstep, and ample recreation choices.

Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge is perhaps the most intriguing and architecturally interesting resort at Walt Disney World. The restaurants, Boma-Flavors of Africa and Jiko-the Cooking Place, offer food with an exotic flair. The thatched roof main building's lobby has a soaring three story window overlooking the savanna, a bridge, and a store that sells African goods. Special activities such as the Wanyama Safari, African traditional storytelling, and animal enrichment sessions are offered. And the animals! Watching gazelles, impalas, and zebras roam the savanna outside your balcony is fabulous.

My family has stayed at practically every resort on WDW property from value to moderate to deluxe and each and every trip has been spectacular. Your family will have an amazing experience no matter which resort you stay in.
