Hello, What is your take on the dining plans? Are they really worth it? Thanks

Welcome to Disney Parks Moms Panel, Jan!

One thing that we enjoy about our trips to Walt Disney World is the food. Snacks, Quick-Service or Table Service meals--there are some spectacular choices throughout parks and resorts. You'll be thrilled with your options!

Disney Dining Plans are a great way to manage the expenses, since the majority of them will be prepaid (tax and gratuity not included). The best way to see if any of the Dining Plans are right for you is to calculate what you'd likely spend dining each day as you tour the parks and resorts without a Dining Plan, then compare that to the cost of what one day's worth of a Dining Plan will add to your vacation package. Add the value of a Rapid Refill Mug, and you'll know what's best for you.

For example, take a look at menus and costs of what you may order during one day of touring. I might grab a Quick-Service breakfast at Magic Kingdom's Be Our Guest Restaurant (Feast A La Gaston, $24; coffee, $2.79), then have a snack mid-day at Gaston's Tavern (chocolate croissant, $3.59) to hold me over until dinner. Heading over to Epcot, I may dine at Coral Reef Restaurant and order Seafood Scampi ($32), and enjoy The Chocolate Wave ($9) for dessert along with a cappuccino as my beverage choice. That's about $80 worth of food (prices current at the time of this writing).

2017 Disney Dining Plan prices are about $65 per adult per night of stay (2 night min; holiday pricing higher), so adding this to your package may indeed save you money.

Send more questions as you plan; we love to help!
