What is the difference between Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach? Is one more age-appropriate for 5 year old?

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Lorraine!

Disney's Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach Water Parks are both splash-tastic! I had this very same question myself before my family's first water park experience several years ago. Now I get asked every vacation if we get to go to a water park.

My youngest was about the age of your little surfer the first time we visited a water park, and to this day, all three of my children prefer Blizzard Beach. While we like the ambience and theming of Typhoon Lagoon better, we prefer the attractions of Blizzard Beach.

Ski Patrol Training Camp will be your littles one's favorite area. It is well-located and extremely fun with plenty of seating around. In fact, when arriving at the park, I would head straight to Ski Patrol Training Camp to claim a spot in one of its shaded areas.

Looking for a great snack while visiting Blizzard Beach? You have to try the mini donuts, they're fantastic!

Another great tip, as long as both parks are open, you can come and go between the two as you'd like on your water park day. This would allow you to try both! You could do most of the day at Blizzard Beach and then cruise on over to Typhoon Lagoon for an hour or two before close to check it out.

I hope this helps, Lorraine! Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

    Cowabunga!
