What is the difference between the Magic+ Bands and the Cards? Can I book FP+ reservations and use my card or do have to use the Band for FP+?

    Hi Holly,

I was at Walt Disney World a couple of weeks ago, and when I came back home, I felt a stronger sense of sadness than I usually feel after a Disney vacation.

When I walked into my bedroom, I set my bags down, emptied my pockets, and then removed my MagicBand and placed it on the dresser. That was the exact moment when I felt the wave of sadness come over me.

The mere act of removing the MagicBand from my wrist was a symbolic transition. At that very moment, I was back in the real world and all of the wonderful experiences that I shared with my family at Walt Disney World were now just memories.

I'm not sure if being an emotional anchor was on the list of functions the MagicBands were designed to achieve. I'm so excited about where this technology is today and the possibilities it holds for tomorrow. However, I can't imagine that anyone expected that nifty little device to also hold a key to happiness as well.

Now, if you're not into the idea of wearing one of these bands on your wrist, don't worry because you can still take advantage of all MagicBand features by using a RFID card instead. While the bands are awesome, Disney realized that some guests may prefer to just use a card instead.

So, either way you go (MagicBand or Card), you'll still get access to the convenience and ease of the MyMagic+ suite of tools (i.e. FastPass+ reservations, room-key access, charging privileges, PhotoPass, etc.).

I hope that helps! Please feel free to write back if you should have any additional questions and I'll be happy to help in any way that I can.

    Best regards,
