Hi Diane, My family (ages4,7,38, 65 ) is sailing Magic from 2-7-16 to 2-11-16. To run the 5K that a.m., is there on board registration? Would you suggest certain adventure excursions to preplan or should we see what the island has in store for us? RTR

    Hi Katee!

Thanks for stopping by the Moms Panel! Your Disney Cruise vacation is coming up soon - I'm so excited for you!

The Castaway Cay 5K is an awesome event, and one of the best ways to tour Disney's private island (and burn some of those cruise calories!). Each evening, you'll receive a Personal Navigator - a daily schedule of all the happenings on the ship. The night before you visit Castaway Cay, you'll receive information about meet-up times and locations for the 5K. On race morning, participants will meet around 8:30-8:45 in one of the ship's lounges. Runners will receive race bibs, and proceed off the ship to the starting line, located near the bike rental area on the island.

If you need child care for your little ones, you'll want to check with cast members to see if Scuttle's Cove (the equivalent of the Oceaneer Club on the island) will be open before the race begins. They'll be able to let you know what your options are.

I encourage you to check out the Port Adventures available on the island. If there's an excursion you're interested in, it's a good idea to go ahead and reserve a spot before your cruise. My favorite Port Adventure is the Extreme Getaway Package - you'll get to enjoy several different features of the island, and it includes four fun activities:

Snorkel Equipment Rental - explore the lagoon at the Family Beach, and spot cool sunken treasures.
    1-Hour Bicycle Rental - our family's can't-miss activity!
Float/Tube Rental - relax, float in the water and enjoy the tropical breeze.
Castaway Ray's Stingray Adventure - get up-close and personal during a feeding session with friendly stingrays!

Hopefully you'll find the perfect Port Adventure for your family to enjoy.

Happy cruising, (and War Eagle!) - Diane W.
