Description of port adventures says it's customary to tip the guide. Can you tip with US currency, or do you need local $ or do they take credit card for tips? Can you pay for snacks and souvenirs with US currency?

    Ahoy, Kirsten!

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel site. I always look forward to checking out the beautiful ports of call on any of my voyages. There are lots of activity choices for the whole family, and there's always something new to look forward to.

Your port adventure guides are your key to having a great experience during your port adventure. They are usually very knowledgeable and are a wealth of information -- some are also pretty funny! Gratuities are not required, but highly appreciated. There is absolutely no issue if you decide to give gratuities using US currency. Guides are not in a position to accept credit cards... so, I suggest having cash on hand specifically to give as a tip to your guide at the conclusion of a port adventure. Even when we were traveling in Europe, our guides were very appreciative in receiving US Currency. If you are traveling in a different country, you are more than welcome to get some local currency if you'd like -- that's easy to do onboard. Just visit the Guest Services desk on deck 3 midship and they can help you with cash or currency exchanges.

Depending on where you travel, there are several souvenir shops by the port that do accept US currency. They'll usually even have a sign - or they will gladly let you know if you ask them. Otherwise, credit cards are widely accepted.

I hope this information helps, Kirsten. Please do let us know if you have any additional questions that we can help with.

    Happy planning!
