Epcot at Dusk

I am deciding our first day on our 9 day Disney dream vacation. We are staying at Disney's Beach club. Should our first day be relaxing, have breakfast at Cape Maes and walk to Epcot for the day or should we go right to Magic Kingdom to see the castle!

    Hi Abigail,

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! Your nine-day vacation sounds absolutely wonderful. You are certainly preparing well by planning in advance.

For my family, this decision depends on 1) how long we traveled, 2) what time of day we arrive, 3) where we are staying, and 4) the length of our stay. When we fly, we drop our luggage off in the room and head straight to Magic Kingdom. Since our flight is less than two hours and is a direct flight, we can arrive in the morning and be at the resort by noon. Since we normally stay at the Contemporary Resort we have plenty of time to relax and get to Magic Kingdom. I usually make Fast Pass+ and dinner reservations at Magic Kingdom for our first night at the Walt Disney World Resort.

When we are staying six nights or more and are not staying at the Contemporary Resort, we have spent our first day relaxing at the resort. The girls go to the pool and we do dinner at the resort. This plan is especially useful if we have arrived later in the afternoon.

Since you are staying at Disney's Beach Club Resort, it would make sense for you to spend your first day at Epcot. And since you are spending nine days, you have time to visit each park more than once. Just consider the length of time for your theme park tickets. If you do not have theme park tickets for nine days, you would definitely have time to spend a day or two exploring the resort. Also consider your travel time to the resort. If you are traveling more than four hours on the day of arrival, a day of relaxation on the first day of your vacation sounds lovely.

Whatever you decide, I hope you have a magical time!
