I have all but decided on staying at the Port Orleans hotel, but can't decide if we (myself, wife, daughters 8 & 6 yrs) should stay at Riverside or French Quarter. Can you tell me the advantages and disadvantages to each of these Port Orleans hotels?

Port Orleans French Quarter (POFQ) offers Mardi Gras theming with a little over 1,000 rooms. Port Orleans Riverside (POR) offers antebellum mansions and bayou accommodations and is double the size of POFQ.

Rooms are themed differently but very similar. The exception is that the Alligator Bayou rooms at POR offer a trundle bed and will fit 5 people.

Each resort has a food court but only POR has a sit down restaurant.

For recreation, POR offers a few extras including marina boat rentals, fishing, quiet pools and a kids’ wading area at Ol’ Man Island.

Keep in mind that you will be able to use the amenities at both resorts. It is a pleasant stroll of approximately 10 minutes between the sister resorts. A shuttle boat often goes between the two resorts as well. Evening carriage rides depart from POR.

An advantage at POFQ is its quaint size. Typically buses pick up POFQ guests first and there is only a single bus stop. Riverside has four bus stops scattered throughout the resort.

We have always enjoyed our stays at POFQ especially when visiting with young children or grandparents who may need a break from walking long distances. Enjoy!
