Debating between BCV & Bay Lake. We are Vacation Club Members. Will be 4 adults & 2 kids (7&5). Which do you recommend & how hard is it to get a room at these places in mid-Oct? Neither are our home resort. Thanks!

    Hi, Shawn!

You can't go wrong with either of these two properties! Those who are fortunate to call them their home resorts each swear that their "home" is the best. That being said, there are some benefits of each one over the other.

For example, Bay Lake Tower, one of my home resorts, is right next to Magic Kingdom, so you can take the monorail or even walk there in well under 10 minutes.  In addition, everybody's favorite mouse's restaurant, Chef Mickey's is right next door, a very convenient location for dinner after a long day in the park. If you are a DVC Member staying at BLT on points, then you ALSO have access to the Top of the World Lounge, which offers a stunning viewing area from which you can see Wishes. Plus, if you book a Theme Park View room, then you can watch WIshes from inside your own room, or, perhaps even on your private balcony. BLT also offers a great pool, which includes a great water slide also.

My friend's home resort, however, is Disney's Beach Club Villas; she would never think of staying anywhere else.  One of the many benefits of staying at BCV includes access to Stormalong Bay, which is a 3 acre "water wonderland" with waterfalls, a lazy river and a water slide.  In addition, BCV is within walking distance to two parks, Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios.

Both properties are difficult to get into at peak seasons, but I think that mid-October should be easier.  Pick your favorite of the above two and call Member Services exactly seven months from your desired check-in and book that day.  You can always ask to be put on the wait list and moved over to your property of choice should it become available.  We've lucked out on several occasions this way, even during a holiday season!

Best of luck in making this very tough choice!  I'm sure you'll enjoy either one, that's for certain!
