Dear Cathy, Where do I start? I promised to take my niece, 12, to Disney World. I am a single aunt and this is her dream. This will be her confirmation gift, graduation from 8th grade and 13th birthday gift. Travel in 2018. Help...Regina

    Hi, Regina!

You might just be the best Aunt ever taking your niece to Walt Disney World. The two of you are going to make so many amazing memories together! Start by choosing your resort. I suggest Disney's Pop Century Resort. This is in the Value Resort category, and one of my favorite places to stay. This resort has a great food court, a fun pool area, and some rooms even have a view of Hourglass Lake! All at a value price.

Then choose the number of days and tickets. I suggest 4-5 nights, with a 4 day park ticket. To keep cost down, I would not add on any of the options. Keep it simple and visit one park per day, so select a 4 day base ticket.

Now, choose your travel dates. Any time of the year is magical, but remember that some weeks can be quite busy, such as spring break or Christmas week. Early or late summer might be nice, and will hopefully work with your niece's school schedule.

To book all this magic, call a friendly Cast Member at (407)934-7639. You can also book online, but since you are new to all of this, I think having one of Mickey Mouse's top travel planners assist you might be helpful, and he/she can answer all your questions. You will be asked if you want to add on the Disney Dining Plan. Read through the details of the plan to see if you would be interested in it. (If not big eaters, just skip the plan and pay as you go!)

Once you get closer (180 days out) you can book your Dining Reservations and then your FastPass+ selections at 60 days out. But for now, focus on getting your basic trip booked, then start working on the details to make your holiday practically perfect in every way!

Drop me a note if you have other questions while planning!
