We will use the DDP, but have a 9 year old that has a rather large appetite. I am worried that the children's menu will not be enough food for him. Is it possible to upgrade his dinning plan to an adult credit? Do you have other suggestions for big kids?

    Hi Krista!

The only way to get the adult meal plan for your son would be to book him as an adult for the trip. This would mean paying adult prices for your park tickets as well. However, there are lots of dining options for you that can keep your son on the children's meal plan and save you money!

First, I would consider booking buffet and family style, all you care to eat meals. At these restaurants, your son will be able to eat as much as he'd like while still paying the child's price. Most buffets have a children's section, but kids can choose items from the adult section of the buffet as well. They have a wide variety of selections and can be great for big eaters. Family style meals are great because your server will bring the food to you, meaning you can sit back and relax. You can ask for seconds or thirds of any of the items and they will happily replenish your plates.

If you visit any table service restaurants where you order from a menu, your son would have to order from the kid's menu. However, you can order an appetizer, extra sides or other items to supplement his meal. You would have to pay for these items out of pocket, but doing that would still probably work out to be more cost effective than paying to book him as an adult.

I hope these ideas help! Enjoy your upcoming vacation!
