My dd is 9 yrs old. We are going to be on the free dining plan with ts. Is there any way to upgrade her to the adult plan? The amount of food is not in question, she would just like more choices.

    Hi Heather,

The only way to upgrade your daughter to the adult Disney Dining Plan would be to change her age on your reservation.  I advise against that because it would mean she would need an adult ticket to the theme parks too (if tickets are a part of your vacation package).

There are definitely ways you can work within the boundaries of the children's dining plan credits.  If you happen to dine at a restaurant where she is not interested in the kids' options, use one of your adult credits to purchase a meal for her and save her kid's credit for another meal.  Another good option is to order her a child's meal and then pay out of pocket for an alluring appetizer to supplement her meal.  This will still be less expensive than upgrading her to an adult on the Disney Dining Plan.  Of course, eating at buffets is an excellent option since both children and adults have access to the same foods (even though the kids pay a much reduced price).

You may want to visit the restaurant menus at allears.net, an independent fan site, prior to your visit.  The information there will help your family locate Disney restaurants where the kids' meals are most enticing.

Thanks for posting your question to the Moms Panel.  I hope you enjoy using the Disney Dining Plan on your upcoming trip.
