DH, DD3, & I coming in Jan 09. My first trip and I've been waiting 27 yrs (my whole life!) for it! What is an absolute MUST SEE/MUST DO that may seem a little out of the ordinary/isn't so obvious? Love the panel, and have become OBSESSED! with planni

    Kimberly,

Your story and mine have many parallels - I was an adult, married with a 2 year old daughter, the first time I visited Disney. In January. I became obsessed with planning. And now 4 years and 15 trips later, here I am! See what you're headed for? :)

My personal picks for often-overlooked must-dos:

-The Tomorrowland Transit Authority - sure, it's not a splashy ride, but there's very rarely a wait and for some reason my whole family LOVES this one.

-Tom Sawyer Island - when the hustle and bustle of the Magic Kingdom gets overwhelming, this is a great place to go and get away from it all. It's amazingly secluded, and quiet, and fun! Be sure to look for a paintbrush - if you find one take it to a cast member for a surprise.  :)

    - The monorail to Epcot - not just for transportation, this can actually be a lot of fun and the trip to Epcot is our favorite route.  Nice views, and a fun time to ask the cast member at the loading area if your daughter can be a honorary pilot!

-The Kids Discovery Clubs in Animal Kingdom - sort of like the Epcot Kidcot stations you hear so much about, but these are far underbilled.  I love everything about Animal Kingdom, and these stations are fun and educational for children all at once.

-The Innoventions Halls in Epcot - many people overlook these in favor of the rides - don't!  Again, fun and learning all at once - and the chance to ride a Segway!

And while I really don't want to sound like a salesperson, my final piece of honest advice would be to visit a DVC info center.  If you're having a great vacation and think you'd like to come back again and again, just talk to them.  They are not pushy AT ALL, I promise.  We didn't talk to them until many trips later, and realized that had we purchased our DVC membership right away we would have saved a lot of money.  It's worth considering.

    Have a wonderful vacation!
