28 more days! we will be staying at the AKL with a savanna view. Should we request a specific area of the hotel, or a certain floor. Will be travelling with a 4 and 5 year old. want to have the BEST experience there with my family. Any "tips".

Hi Kerrilee!  You must be getting really excited!  As I am typing this, I am actually sitting on my balcony at Animal Kingdom Lodge, watching a zebra have lunch!  I am on the 2nd floor with savannah view.  If you google  "animal kingdom lodge layout", you can find many photos that show which animals are where.  You can then decide if there is a particular animal you want to see and request a room. However, I feel that all savannah views are great.  The farther away from the center of the hotel will mean a longer walk to your room, so you may want to consider that.  I am actually in the very farthest room you can be in from the lobby on the 2nd floor, which means a long walk...BUT it also means I can see two animal areas...one on my right and one on my left that are separated by a fence.  (I am in room 2391)
One tip for you, you can rent "night-vision" goggles which are AWESOME and you can see the animals at night when they tend to be pretty active!  It also makes the stars look really neat.  I also recommend all of the restaurants here.  The Mara is a great place for a quick meal.  Definitely try some different items.  I had the chickpeas and spinach fritters from in-room dining last night and it was great!
    Have a wonderful trip!!
