My 5 yo and I are 19 days from his first trip to WDW! I am so excited that I am already thinking about another trip! That one will involve his two 19 yo brothers who both have autism. My question is about bathrooms. Are there family/companion restrooms?

    Hello, Amy!

I can absolutely relate to your excitement for your upcoming visits to the Walt Disney World Resort. Our family also happens to have two upcoming visits planned, one with a smaller part of the family and one adding on two more members of the family! I can’t wait to experience the magic with my family.

That is smart thinking to plan ahead on learning about the locations of the restrooms around the Walt Disney World Resort. You can research restroom locations, including locations of companion restrooms, on the Walt Disney World website. The interactive map shows the list of restrooms and their location. Just look for the keyword "companion" and click on that item to see it on the map. Another great resource is the free Walt Disney World My Disney Experience mobile application. From the home screen of the app, you can tap into the map view. A drop-down menu at the top of the screen includes a "Restrooms" item to select. From there, you may tap on restroom locations near you to see which ones are set up as companion restrooms. Or you may tap "Show List" in the upper-right corner of the screen to display the names of locations for restrooms and scan for restrooms for companion use. The "Filter" in the upper-left corner of the screen can help you narrow down your search results to your current destination location.

We too are parents of two older children with autism. I am so grateful for the fun and safe environment they can find in the Disney Parks. And the accommodations they are able to make for guests with disabilities, including guests with cognitive disabilities, help give these guests and their families extra peace of mind. I just know you and your sons will make special memories to last a lifetime!

I look forward to hEARing from you again soon. Have a magical time, Amy!
