Hello, we are 15 days from our first trip ever to WDW and we are so excited. My question is do I need to bring a note from my my son's doctor stating that he has autism so we can receive the card from guest services? Thanks in advance Melissa.

    Hello, Melissa!

You must be so very excited for your upcoming trip to Walt Disney World! You're in for a blast!

Regarding the Guest Assistance Card, any Guest who has a specific need, such as requiring alternate entrance for those attractions which have one, must provide a Cast Member at Guest Services with a letter from that Guest's doctor, stating that the accommodation is necessary for medical reasons. Your son's doctor does not need to provide private medical information, though, just what he needs because of a medical situation. You can do this at Guest Services at one of the four Theme Parks (Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney's Hollywood Studios and Disney's Animal Kingdom) as well as at Guest Services at Downtown Disney.

We acquired GAC cards this past summer when traveling with family members who had mobility issues; those cards were truly magical, as our family members with specific disabilities would simply not have been able to enjoy much, if any, of WDW without them.

Have a wonderful time; be sure to send questions as you think of them, too. I'd love to help!
