On the days when there will be a DL or DCA after dark event is the park that will be hosting the event more full or less full than usual during regular operating hours? If we have a one park ticket (not one for the night event) which park should we go to?

    Hiya, Elizabeth!

I am a big fan of the Disneyland After Dark special event nights, so I’m happy to help answer your question! I’m counting down the days until the next event, Disneyland After Dark: Heroes Assemble, which will take place inside Disney California Adventure on both April 30 and May 1, 2019. Though the actual Disneyland After Dark events run from 9:00 PM to 1:00 AM, event Guests are allowed to enter Disney California Adventure as early as 6:00 PM. On both April 30 and May 1, Disneyland Park will be open 9:00 AM to 11:00 PM, and Disney California Adventure Park will be open to the general public from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM.

From my personal experience, I’d say that the park that’s hosting the event tends to be less crowded since it closes early to the general public. Some Annual Passholders may choose to visit Disneyland for a few hours before the event begins, and then move over to Disney California Adventure later in the day.

So, if you’re looking for a late-night experience, I’d recommend visiting Disneyland since it’s open later. If you’re planning to rope drop your favorite attractions and end your day a bit earlier, then Disney California Adventure could be a great option. Check out the Daily Events Schedule to get an idea of the entertainment being offered at each park. This may help you narrow down which park you’d like to experience. Or, if you simply can’t decide, get the best of both worlds with a Park Hopper Ticket! You could start your day in Disney California Adventure, then head over to Disneyland once event Guests start arriving.

Wishing you a trip full of magical memories!
