Hello! I have 1 day stop in Orlando and plan to take my 5 y.o. for her first visit to Magic Kingdom. We won't arrive at the park until ~11am. What are must-see things to do for a worthwhile & well-rounded experience?

    Hi Laurel,

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I am delighted that you are taking your 5-year old daughter on her first trip to Magic Kingdom!

We took our girls on their first trip to the Walt Disney World Resort when they were also 5-years old. We have the most incredible memories from that trip! First, think about doing a character meal - The Crystal Palace, Cinderella's Royal Table and Chef Mickey's are a few of our favorites. Although not in Magic Kingdom, Chef Mickey's is just a short walk or monorail away in Disney's Contemporary Resort Hotel.

Second, be sure to buy your tickets and link them in a My Disney Experience Account. If you have not done so already, you can create one. Once your tickets are linked, you can make Fast Pass+ selections. At 5-years old, our girls adored The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, The Magic Carpets of Aladdin, Dumbo the Flying Elephant, Astro Orbiter and the Barnstormer. Depending on her height, your daughter may also be able to ride Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Splash Mountain.

Laurel, if you can stay later, make sure she sees the Happily Ever After fireworks. The show is stunning. On our last trip, I staked out a spot two hours before the show. We had the best view from the left in front of Cinderella Castle!

Magic, memories and Minnie Mouse hugs,
