My daughter is 3 years old and wears hearing aids. Is there special seating at shows for the hearing impaired? If there is, will our entire party of 6 be able to sit with her? Do we need to get a DAS card? Thank you.

    Hi there, Amanda!

I am thrilled that you stopped by with your question!  I have 2 hearing impaired children and can certainly help.  First off, please take a look at this detailed information for Hearing Impaired Guests of the Walt Disney World Resort.  You will not need to obtain a DAS card to access special seating areas.  Simply let the cast member know that you need to be seating in the hearing impaired section.  At 3 years old, your daughter will not be able to benefit from reflective captioning.  As she gets older, I think she will appreciate it.  It has really been a big help to my kids, ages 9 and 12 now.  Your daughter may benefit from Assistive Listening Devices available at Guest Relations at all 4 theme parks.  You will have to leave a $25 deposit which you will get back when you return the device.  Depending on the settings of her hearing aids, she may or may not experience some feedback.  It is definitely worth a try.  Either way, be sure to visit Guest Services to inquire about any and all hearing services offered to you.  You can then determine what might work best for your daughter.  Here is another tip…  Whenever you encounter an attraction where seating makes a difference, let the cast member know your daughter is hearing impaired.  Briefly explain that it is important for her to be seating up close (to see lips), and close to the sound source.  You will be directed to an appropriate area for seating.  Your party of 6 should have no problem sitting together.  If you do encounter a problem, politely ask that the rest of your party be seated nearby.

Have so much fun.  ChEARS to you!

I wish you a truly magical vacation!
