Mom And Son On Run

My daughter is in a wheelchair and I created a water chair for in the pool out of heavy pvc plastic tubing with standard wheels. We're staying at Beach Club. Do you think we'll have a problem?

    Hi Mary,

Being the mom of a special needs son, I totally understand moms having to be creative in order to allow our children the most accessibility as possible.  Sounds like you are one AMAZING mom!  I could envision that but if I constructed it myself, I'm sure a wheel would fall off so I applaud you!

Unfortunately, the pool at the Beach Club is not zero-depth-entry which means that you can't roll her into the pool in the wheel chair.

I have reached out to someone at the Beach Club Resort to see if he can offer suggestions for you but he will not be available until next week.  Please feel free to visit me again next week and I'll see if he has any viable options for you.

I don't know if you plan to visit a water park or not during your trip. I was at Typhoon Lagoon earlier this month and found out they do have a very limited number of wheelchairs that Guests can use in the water. These chairs were available at no charge but again, they were very limited in number.

Wishing you many magical memories :-) Allison
