My daughter is 3 and we will be visiting the MK for 2, maybe even 3, days. All dining restaurants are booked for dinner. What is your opinion on two issues...1) leaving the park for naps and 2) going to dinner outside the park and then coming back?

    Hi, Amy!

These are great questions, and I think that you can manage either situation, should you need to do so, how you feel is best.

For example, there were days when my children were 3 and at the parks at Walt Disney World, and they just really got worn out around lunchtime. On those days, we'd head back to our Resort, nap (or relax in the air conditioning if the nap didn't work) and head back into the park when everyone felt refreshed, However, there were days when we got into the parks after a leisurely morning, where we didn't wake up early and rush out; on those days, if the little ones seemed raring for more, we stayed through nap time, but made it a point to come home early that evening, possibly even before dinnertime. Generally speaking, we planned our park activities around nap time, but remained flexible if everyone was happy without it (sometimes a nap in the stroller was all it took for the little one to be recharged...)

Regarding dinner outside the park, we often made a reservation at our WDW Resort's restaurant, one in a monorail-accessible Resort or even at Downtown Disney. If you've left the park to nap and recharge, it's sometimes very refreshing to dine in a location near the park, should you wish to re-enter. Because you're not actually in the park, however, you can plan these meals to occur on nights when you simply don't want to have to return to the park, either. Win-win!

Send more questions as you plan your little princess's visit to WDW! I'd love to help!
