My daughter will be 13 soon and a Disney vacation was what she wanted. I would like some pointers to get the most out of a trip with teens & adults on a budget to Epcot & Magic kingdom. Art of animation is the hotel.

    Hi, Crystal!

Wow! What a great way to celebrate 13: a trip to Walt Disney World!

To celebrate our teens' birthdays in Walt Disney World, we gave them some control of what we'd do each day, making the entire experience all about the birthday kid.

Check out Walt Disney World park hours, planning your day(s) in Magic Kingdom when park hours are longest. Also note Extra Magic Hours which will give you added time to enjoy a particular park.

Next, look at your dining options in Magic Kingdom and Epcot. Plan on enjoying Quick-Service or Table-Service meals? Let your teen select a few. A favorite type of food (hibachi? Mexican? dessert?), character interaction (yes, even at 13), or view will lead you the perfect place for refueling. Table-Service reservations for your entire stay can be made up to 180 days in advance of check-in.

Next up? FastPass+. Let your daughter select 3 attractions in Epcot, then 3 in Magic Kingdom, and coordinate your FP+ and dining choices with the best park hours.

Let the birthday girl's interests lead your tours: marine biology? Visit Epcot's The Seas with Nemo & Friends. World culture? Investigate shops within each country in World Showcase. Thrill rides? Conquer the three mountains of Magic Kingdom: Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Splash Mountain.

In short, let your teen help to design each day, and this trip will be ever so magical for the birthday girl...and Mom, too.

Send more questions as you plan, Crystal; we love to help!
