My daughter and I are running 2016 WDW 5K, and we want my husband to join us. He has a prosthetic leg, and gets around WDW quite well, but usually uses a cane or crutches, since these aren't allowed, what are the requirements for non racing wheelchairs?

    Welcome back, Christine!

I'm excited to hear you are already planning your next runDisney adventure! runDisney-cations are the best.

With regard to your husband participating in the 2016 Walt Disney World 5k, it is required that wheelchair athletes use a racing wheelchair and that they complete the race under their own power. However, I do recommend calling runDisney directly at (407) 939- 4768 to see if perhaps the policy on this can be somewhat flexible for the 5k.

Hopefully, they can accommodate your Prince Charming so he may join you on the course. And please let me know if I can be of any further assistance in your planning.

    Have a magical day!
