My daughter will be missing a couple of days of class this fall to go to WDW. I was actually wondering if there was anything she could bring back to class that has educational value but would be fun for her classmates to learn and see. Any suggestions?

Hi John! Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

I think it is wonderful that you are looking for educational opportunities for your daughter while you are vacationing at the Walt Disney World Resort!

One of the things that came to mind that I think would be fun would be to travel World Showcase in Epcot. I would bring a piece of paper, or an autograph book, or a small section of a poster board and a pen. I would go to the Kidcot Fun Stops and have your daughter ask a person from each country how to say hello in their native language, and have them write it in their native language. I also recommend that you take videos on your phone of her learning how to say hello in the different languages so that she can reference them once she returns. As she tells her class about each country she could greet them with their greeting of hello, for instance she could say:  “konnichiwa” friends!  She then could go on to say this is how to say hello in Japanese, and then she could pass around how they wrote it for her!

Another idea I had would be for her to become a Wilderness Explorer at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park. Here you participate in self-guided activities and complete challenges that will not only help her learn about animals and nature skills, but will also allow her to explore Disney’s Animal Kingdom in a way that you may not have thought of! She can earn up to 30 badges. For each challenge that she completes, and each badge that she earns; I would take her picture at the challenge. After she gets home help her create a poster type presentation with her pictures and badges. Using this poster as a visual aid she can teach her classmates about the animals and survival skills that she learned!

I hope that you have a lot of fun learning some new things!
