    Debra from NJ Asked

My daughter will be in a locked knee brace keeping her leg straight during our vacation. We are trying to figure out which rides she definitely will not be able to ride.

Hello, Debra! I'm so glad you stopped by the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question! Mickey and I are sorry to hear about your daughter's injury. I'd be happy to give you some tips and resources to help make her trip more comfortable.

Walt Disney World Resort is known for its customer service and the myriad of systems in place to help Guests with all sorts of disabilities. Mobility devices such as wheelchairs and Electronic Conveyance Vehicles (ECVs) are available for rent at any Walt Disney World Resort theme park. Also, Walt Disney World Resort attractions provide access for guests with mobile disabilities in a variety of ways. There is information on the website and on your My Disney Experience Mobile App which lists how Guests with disabilities will be required to board, which include:

    *Remaining in a wheelchair
*Transferring from EVC/wheelchair to the ride
    *Transferring from ECV to wheelchair
    *Must be ambulatory

Although we can be confident that attractions in the "Must be Ambulatory" category, such as Swiss Family Treehouse and the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover, will be a "no go" for your daughter, it's harder to predict how she will handle other rides. Someone who is not able to bend their leg at all might not be able to ride as many attractions, but there is quite a variety of shows during which she will be able to remain in her wheelchair. The wheelchair space in most of the wheelchair accessible ride cars is around 48 inches long. For more information, visit the Guests with Disabilities – Frequently Asked Questions page and feel free to contact Disability Services at (407) 560-2547 or email disability.services@disneyparks.com.

I hope you and your daughter have a magical time with Mickey and his pals in a few weeks, Debra!

Hi, I'm Eean from Pennsylvania!  I may have an unusual name, but my passion for Disney is not unique.  It’s amazing how many people you can find who love talking about, "The Most Magical Place On Earth!"  I'm that mom who always has her ears perked at PTO meetings, in the grocery store aisle, or at middle school basketball games waiting for an opportunity to give someone a planning tip to help make their vacation even more magical.
