My daughter (6) and I will be leaving in 3.5 days! Very excited. She started pin trading last time and loved it. She has some pins that she will not part with but wants to wear them. Is there a way to show that these are not for trading?

My kids love collecting and wearing pins, but they almost never want to trade them. There is no "secret code" that I know of that indicates that particular pins are not for trade. However, no guest is ever under any obligation to trade any particular pin. If someone asks your daughter to trade, she may simply say to them, "that one has sentimental value, I'd like to keep it." This will certainly be respected.

If your daughter would like to avoid this conversation all together, perhaps she could wear two lanyards, one with pins that she would be willing to trade and one with the favorites. When she goes up to a pin trading station, she could just take off the no-trade lanyard and have you put it in your bag or backpack for a while.

    Happy trading!
