Hi! My daughter (7) and I will be headed to WDW this April as a surprise for her birthday. I am a bit concerned because we will be coming during one of the busiest times of year. Can we still manage to enjoy the parks with such huge projected crowds?

Hi Yolanda! Thanks for coming by to see us again. And a very happy birthday to your little princess! Birthdays at Walt Disney World are extra special, so let's make sure your daughter has the trip of her dreams.

It's true that you've chosen a very busy time to visit. Easter is on April 5, so you'll be here at the height of the holiday. But that doesn't mean you can't have a wonderful time. You just need to pack some patience and have a plan.

Here are some ways to beat the crowds during the busiest times of year:

Arrive early - Be at the entrance to the park at least 30 minutes before the scheduled opening and go straight to the attractions you'd like to see first thing.

Use FastPass+ - Take a look at which attractions have FastPass+ times still available for your dates and try to schedule them for later in the day, after you've already hit some popular attractions in the morning.

Take a break - Your daughter is still young enough that she may benefit from a break in the afternoon to rest or swim at your resort hotel.

Have non-park days - Take a day to explore the resort hotels, head to a water park or visit Downtown Disney.

Extra Magic Hours - Certain parks will open earlier or stay open later on select days for Guests staying at Walt Disney World Resort hotels.

Eat at off times - Lunch at 10:30 a.m. may sound odd, but restaurants will be packed at high noon!

Check out crowd calendars at sites like touringplans.com or easywdw.com (free!) to get more tips.

If you have a solid plan and a little flexibility, you can have a great trip even at the busiest times, Yolanda. Wishing your little girl a magical birthday!

I've lived my whole life just an hour's drive from Walt Disney World, so I've been a regular visitor for as long as I can remember. Even after all these years and so many visits, I love that there's still so much to discover! Now that I'm a mom myself, seeing my favorite place through my son's eyes has given me a whole new perspective that I enjoy sharing with other parents of young children. Learn More About Kathy
