My daughter and her family are trying to book a Disney Vacation but because her husband may need the use of walking devices while there (He has a degenerative arthritic condition) they want to stay at Disney . Any ideas?

    Hi Valerie,

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I am thrilled that your daughter and her family are planning a visit to the Walt Disney World Resort. My family has found the resorts and parks to be very accommodating to guests with special needs. I would first advise you to review the Services for Guests with Disabilities.

My husband also has an arthritic condition that makes it difficult for him to walk. To assist him, we always register with Disability Services when we arrive at our first park. We have been able to use the Disability Access Service. This service allows us to request return times for rides so that he does not have to stand in long lines. Although it does not work for all rides or attractions, it works for many of them and can be used in addition to Fast Pass+.

We also always make a special note on our room reservation. Since my husband cannot do stairs well and we never want to take a risk that an elevator might be out of order, we always request a first floor room near the main building.

To save some time with transportation, we now always stay at a resort with access to the Monorail. Disney's Contemporary Resort, Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa and Disney's Polynesian Village Resort all have access to the monorail.

Finally, your daughter should review the ECV Rentals options and be sure to make Dining Reservations. Making reservations will save them time in line at the restaurants.

    I hope this helps!
