    Rebecca from IL Asked

My daughter and I will be going to Disneyworld soon, and staying on-site. I know standard parking is free at the parks for hotel guests, but is there a way to pay extra for the premium parking option and how much would that be?

Hi Rebecca! Transportation questions come our way all the time as none of us want to waste time in a car or a bus when we can be enjoying all the magic of the parks!

If you have a car and want to drive to the parks versus taking the complimentary buses from your resort you can certainly do that as parking for resort guests is complimentary. This past year Disney started testing the Preferred Parking option for all guests. The cost is $35 a day but if you are a resort guest that includes free parking then you simply pay the difference which would be $15. For many guests that makes it more feasible to pay that to have the opportunity to park closer to the park entrances.

We used this service several times this past fall and enjoyed it especially when we knew we needed to get in and out quickly. We asked about this parking area ever filing to capacity and never got a good answer but it sounded like this did not happen often. We were also told that once you pay for the premium parking in one park you would not have to pay it again to move to another park. And finally we were pleasantly surprised to be greeted by cast members who handed us cold bottles of water to enjoy in the park. All in all it was a pleasant experience and one we will consider doing again.

I will state that taking the buses to the Magic Kingdom is still the way to go as they will drop you off directly at the entrance. When you drive you will still have to take either the monorail or ferry to reach the park which will take more time so even the preferred parking is not going to save you extra minutes.
