My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 (insulin dependent) diabetes six years ago at the age of 11. Each year on her D-Day (diagnosis day) she does something special to celebrate. This year celebrating on our disney trip. Any suggestions how?

    Hi Dorothy,

Welcome to the Moms Panel! Disney World is an excellent place to celebrate any occasion.  Be sure to pick up a "I'm Celebrating" button for her at Guest Relations.

There are so many special ways you can celebrate. One of my favorite things to do are the tours. Since your daughter is over 16, she is eligible to participate in the ones that take you to the backstage areas. My favorite is the Backstage Magic Tour. Click here for a list of tours currently offered.

You may enjoy a dinner show or special experience such as Disney's Spirit of Aloha Show, the Hoop-De-Doo Musical Revue, the Pirates & Pals Fireworks Voyage or the Tomorrowland Terrace Fireworks Dessert Party.

Dinner at California Grill at The Contemporary Resort timed to see the fireworks at the Magic Kingdom rocks! Another great location to dine and enjoy the fireworks is Narcoossee's at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.

For a personal touch, contact the Disney Floral & Gifts Department. They can help with an in-room celebration or a special delivery to a dining location. Visit them online at www.disneyflorist.com or call a  Dream Maker  at 407-WDW-GIFT (407-939-4438). They are available to help you seven days a week from 8:00 a m. - 6:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.

Wishing you minnie magical memories :-) Allison
