Hi, my daughter was just diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. We are huge Disney fans and have a trip for late August planned for her graduation. Does Disney have any special menus for it's diabetic guests?

Hi Samantha! Thanks for joining us here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

Your question is near to my heart as my maternal grandmother had Type 1 Diabetes.  The Walt Disney World resort is a great place to vacation with your T1D kiddo, as they are incredibly accommodating to all guests that have specific dietary needs.  First and foremost, you can call Disney's Special Dietary Requests when booking your Advanced Dining Reservations to inform the restaurant that you need diabetic meals.  You may also inform your server upon arrival and the chef will come out and speak with you personally about the menu.  Cast Members taking your order at Quick Service establishments will also be able to provide assistance upon request.  If a phone call doesn't fit well into your schedule, you may email the Special Diets team at Special.Diets@DisneyWorld.com and receive assistance from Cast Members here as well.  Be on the lookout for Sugar Free treats in every park during your stay, as Disney has some incredible sugar-free treats!

Just a few other helpful hints for you since you're visiting us on the Moms Panel site: you may bring your own food, drinks and snacks into the park provided that they are not in glass containers.  You may bring coolers into the park as well with any and all supplies that you need.  There are First Aid stations located in each of the four theme parks, as well as the two water parks; an interactive map is available at the link above.  Restrooms at the Walt Disney World Resort have sharps containers should you require those during your stay.

Samantha, I hope your family has a magical, wonderful time on your upcoming vacation!

    Best Wishes,
    Amy S.

I’ve grown up in Central Florida and have been visiting Disney Parks for over 30 years. Now that I’m a mom myself of a blended family with four kids, I love sharing Disney’s year-round special events with my family. Some of our favorite events are the Flower and Garden Festival, Epcot's International Food and Wine Festival and Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. Let me help you plan something extraordinary for your next Disney Parks vacation! Learn More About Amy
