My daughter was born with a heart condition. She is 5 years old and our travel agent recommended us getting a DAS card. What can the DAS card be used for? I was curious if it could be used with shows ( Beauty and the Beast) and Character meet and greets?

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Nikki! Thank you for bringing us your question about your visit with your daughter to Walt Disney World Resort this upcoming November!

I imagine you must be worried about her waiting in line. Do not worry, Disney has your back. Let me tell you about a tool to help people with medical conditions navigate the Parks with more ease. The Disability Access Service (DAS) Card is a special program designed to accommodate guests who aren’t able to wait in a conventional queue environments due to a disability or medical condition. It offers guests a return time for attractions based on current wait times. If your daughter qualifies for this service (I'm pretty positive she will), the entire party will all be eligible to receive a return time for another attraction once you finish your first attraction, and so on. The best thing is that this service can be used in addition to the FastPass+ (FP+) Service.

As soon as you arrive at the first park (any of the main four, Magic Kingdom Park, Epcot, Disney's Hollywood Studios, and Disney's Animal Kingdom), go to the Guest Relations Office and request to speak to a Cast Member about your daughter's condition. They may ask you a couple of questions to determine eligibility. They will most likely ask you to describe her condition but no documentation will be necessary. If you qualify for this program, your MagicBand and those of the other members in your party will be scanned and you will be all set. You do not need to do this at other Parks since the benefit will be valid for your length of stay. Remember that your daughter will need to be present at all rides in order to redeem special entrance.

This benefit can be used at character meet-and-greet locations that work with FastPass+; however, for those that do not work in conjunction with FP+, I am afraid you will have to speak to the character's handler and explain your situation to them.

Nikki, I am sure everything will be just fine! Please come back with more questions, we love to help!

Wishing you and your daughter the most pixie-dusted vacation,

    ~Desiree

Meet the Panelist: Desiree, Peru

Hi! I'm Desiree from Lima, Peru. My family will never ever tire of visiting the Most Magical Place on Earth, even if means traveling almost 3,000 miles to do so! My husband and I love to watch the fireworks with our kids, but the best magic happens when the grandparents come along and we all feel the same age in front of Cinderella Castle! I love giving tips about different types of resorts and traveling with multigenerational groups.
