My daughter was born with Down Syndrome in December. We most likely wont take her to Disney this year.. but when we do, how old does she need to be to get the DAS card? And can we take the stroller in the lines?

Hi, Chelsea! Thanks for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

As the mom of a child with special needs, I have found that the Walt Disney World Resort goes above and beyond to make sure that the magic is accessible to everyone. Prior to your visit, be sure to familiarize yourself with Walt Disney World Resort's Services for Guests with Disabilities.

All accommodations for guests with disabilities will be determined in person, on a case-by-case basis. Once you arrive for your first day of fun at one of the Walt Disney World theme parks, you will want to stop by Guest Relations and speak with a Cast Member. They will work with you to determine what types of accommodations will best meet your daughter's needs. There is really no set age requirement for obtaining Disability Access Service (DAS). Your daughter's specific needs, rather than her age, will determine if this is the right accommodation for her.

Normally guests are not permitted to bring their strollers into attraction queues. However, if your stroller is acting as a mobility device for your daughter, accommodations may be able to be made. Again, you will want to discuss this with the Cast Members at Guest Relations. When guests require the use of mobility devices such as wheelchairs or electric conveyance vehicles (scooters), they are sometimes able to go through the regular attraction queue. If the queue is not accessible, they will be directed to an alternate entrance.

There are so many new and exciting things coming soon to the Walt Disney World Resort. I am sure that when you bring your little princess for her first visit, you will have a magical time!
