Mom and daughter on Expedition Everest

Darcie, my 18 mth old baby has Down syndrome and doesn't do well with noise but we plan to watch the fireworks. He won't tolerate ear plugs; someone mentioned noise canceling headphones to plug in an ipod. I doubt they have one for baby. Any suggestions?

I'm not sure about the noise canceling bit, but my son (23 months) does actually have a pair of "baby headphones."  We purchased a Fisher-Price FP3 player for him and it came with headphones small enough to fit him.  My daughter with Down syndrome actually has the same FP3 player and she absolutely loves it.  I haven't had any luck finding it in stores anymore, but it can be purchased fairly inexpensively from eBay.  Perhaps one of those would work for your son.  That way, you could download some of his favorite songs and it might serve to distract him from the pops and bangs of the fireworks.

Of course, if that alternative wouldn't suffice, you could always watch the fireworks from afar.  The beach at the Polynesian, for example, is a popular place to sit back and enjoy the show.

    Hope that helps!
