Mom And Son On Run

Darcie, will there be any issues traveling to and from the resort with a double stroller when visiting MK - I read that you advise to use your vehicle for large families (we are family of 6 with a baby with DS)? ~ Diana

My personal preference is to use a rental vehicle while we're vacationing at WDW just because I find it to be the most convenient.  One of my Mom's Panel friends, though, almost always relies on Disney transportation and she has three children.  So, as you can see, it can go either way.

The concern I would have for you is a shortage of hands.  If you've got your hands full with the baby, and your husband has his hands full with the double stroller, that leaves very few hands to deal with the other three children and the assorted gear that goes along with them.  The stroller will need to be collapsed to board the bus and then you have to worry about getting everybody situated once you get off the bus all while keeping the little ones close by.  If it were me, I would just prefer to use a rental vehicle.  That way, you could leave the littlest children buckled into their carseats while you deal with the stroller, backpacks, diaper bag, etc.  It would also make it nice for you if your son suddenly has had enough and needs a nap immediately.  In that situation, waiting on a bus is not ideal.

If you can fit a rental car into your budget I think it would be optimal.  If not though, rest assured that when my daughter (who also has Down syndrome) was 22 months we toured the parks along with our three children and relied on Disney busses.  It can be done, but in my opinion it's much easier with a rental car.
