Hi MOMS (and DADS)! My husband and I are surprising our sons (9 & 7) with a trip to WDW for Christmas. We will be at the parks 12/18/15-1/2/16. I have ideas for Christmas eve and day but was stumped about New Year's Eve & day. What would you su

What a wonderful surprise for your sons!  I absolutely love visiting Walt Disney World over the holidays; it is filled with so much holiday cheer and celebration.

When it comes to New Year's Eve, I'm partial to Epcot as it holds crowds much better than the other parks.  In fact, in past years the park even had two fireworks shows that night. Many countries in the World Showcase also ring in their New Year when their country actually does, so there are mini-celebrations throughout the day. As your trip grows closer, I'd pay attention to the Park Hours to see what is happening in each of the parks to help with your planning.  The Disney Parks Blog will also share information about special events and celebrations to help you with your planning.

If you'd rather stay away from crowds, dinner at the California Grill will be a special dining experience with views of the fireworks from the top of Disney's Contemporary Resort.  Even if you dine early, guests are invited to come back to view the fireworks. Similarly, 'Ohana and Narcoossee's have views, too, and are lovely dining experiences.  In fact, if you go to a restaurant in the evening, you may find spending a day at Disney's Animal Kingdom a good idea as many guests will be heading to the other parks to get their "spot" for the day.

On New Year's Day, I'd go to the park you'd like to spend your last full day visiting.  You may also want to make your FastPass+ reservations for later in the day in case you decide to sleep late.

    Wishing you a great trip!
