My dad is running Wine & Dine 1/2. WDW marathon we stayed at POF-GREAT!!! looked at AoA but his friend insists we stay near finish. BC/YC. Huge price diff. Debating on staying near start/finish for this one. Does it matter? What are your recommendation

    Hi Mysha!

My biggest recommendation is to stay at one of the host resorts for the Wine and Dine.  These resorts will have buses running to and from all of the race weekend events.  You can find the host resorts on the Walt Disney World travel page of the runDisney website.

As much as I LOVE the Art of Animation Resort, it is not one of the host resorts, and therefore I wouldn't recommend staying at it for this race.  You would have to find transportation to the expo/packet pick-up, race start and race finish.

The race actually begins at the Wide World of Sports and ends in the Epcot parking lot.  The Beach and Yacht Club are my favorite resorts, and they will be very convenient for the finish.  I usually stay at the Beach Club and am able to walk back to my room (through the back entrance/exit of Epcot) when I am finished at the party.

However, it is quite a bit more, and that is the only major benefit to staying there in regards to the race.  All of the other host resorts will have buses waiting at Epcot to take you back.  So, you would just need to factor in how much you want to pay for that convenience!  If it was just for the race, I wouldn't do it, but my family is usually with  me, and Epcot is our favorite park.  So, staying at those resorts allows us to walk back and forth to Epcot easily, and jump on a ferry to Hollywood Studios, which is our second favorite park!  You can see why we love that location!

I hope this helps you with your decision!  Please let me know if you have any other questions.
