Hi Moms and Dad! This panel has been an absolute necessity it planning our first WDW trip in Ocrober. My kids are interested in pin trading so I am looking for tips on buying pins online and ensuring that they are genuine disney pins. Thanks!!

Pin trading is a great activity for kids. It can be a great way to learn about Disney history, teach some concepts about economics (supply and demand), and meet some interesting people. Pins are for sale in almost every store at Walt Disney World, but the pins you trade do not have to be purchased on-site. You can buy them from other sources, including on online auction sites, but as you suggest, it's important to make sure that the pins you have are authentic Disney pins, otherwise they are not a valid trading medium.

If you click here, you'll be taken to the official Disney Pin Trading site. This has a very thorough list of questions/answers about pin trading that will tell you everything you need to know to get started. And here is a list of pin trading etiquette that gives some guidelines about acceptable pins. Another informative source about this topic is actually Wikipedia. Find the entry on Disney Pin Trading there and you'll get a nice summary of the topic.

    Have fun trading!
