Art of Animation Pool Resorts and More

Hello! I currently have a reservation at POP but I’m debating on switching to AOA Little Mermaid Room. I LOVE The Little Mermaid but I heard the walk to the main building is very long. We are 3 adults. Thoughts on this? Will it be brutal in the July heat?

    Hi Danielle,

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! If only life was full of these kinds of delightful choices every day!

Disney's Pop Century Resort and Disney's Art of Animation Resort are beautifully themed resorts. Having stayed at both resorts fairly recently, I will say that I did not find the walk from our Little Mermaid room much further than the walk I had from our room at Disney's Pop Century Resort. We had one of the refurbished rooms at Disney's Pop Century and it was absolutely lovely. Having said that, the Big Blue Pool at Disney's Art of Animation Resort is FANTASTIC! Since you will be visiting in July, I imagine the pool might be important.

My family typically visits in July and the heat is sweltering. We plan for it by making our Fast Pass+ selections in the morning and heading back to the resort to go to the pool in the afternoon. Then we head back to the parks in the evening. We also make sure to routinely pick up complimentary cups of ice water while we are in the parks and we take a break to eat in air-conditioned restaurants. If using a dining plan, we also use our snack credits for frozen treats - the smoothies at Auntie Gravity's Galactic Goodies and the frozen lemonades are some of our favorites!

Danielle, I love the Little Mermaid rooms as well, so I think you should give it a try. We have just come to accept that walking is inevitable at every Walt Disney World Resort hotel and both Disney's Pop Century and Art of Animation are expansive. Plan accordingly and you will survive the July heat!

Magic, memories and Minnie Mouse hugs,
