Currently planning our 1st WDW trip for 4/2010. 5 year old son, my husband and myself. We thought about the value resorts but like what the moderate resorts have to offer will my 5 year old be missing out on anything by us not staying at the value resorts?

    Hi Zita!

Your first trip to the "Funnest Place on Earth!" How exciting! Magical Moments await both you and your family...

Although Value Resorts seem almost structured with the kid in mind, you shouldn't go wrong finding plenty to do for your 5 year old at any of the Moderate Resorts.

Our family stayed at the Coronado Springs Resort when my daughter was 5, and she loved it! Coronado has a massive pool area (at the Dig Site) with long water slides, structures that squirt water at you, and smaller pools for the pre-schoolers. If your kid loves getting wet or splashing water, they'll certainly love this!

Next to the pool area is a large playground area with that soft flooring; protection in case your kid stumbles. They also have hammocks placed along the walking trail, which our daughter loved jumping in...

You will find all the moderate resorts should have a decent playground area and arcade, in addition to the pools.

You'll also get a resort itinerary when you arrive. Each resort generally hosts a number of kid-friendly events your child will enjoy during your stay.

Good luck and wishes for a magical 1st visit!
