Mom And Son On Run

Our current reservation (11/28-12/4) is for a family suite at ASMu, for myself, DD5, DD2 and my Mom. Would you recommend switching to a moderate resort (CBR?) to save some $ per night and also be closer to things, or keep the suite for the extra space?

If it's not a financial burden, I'd hang on to the suite.  Since you'll be traveling with two little ones, I can foresee you and your mom enjoying the ability to put the kids to bed in a bedroom and spend an hour or two unwinding without actually going to sleep.  You also may appreciate having two bathrooms.  And, when you get right down to it, unless you are staying at one of the deluxe resorts on the monorail line or within walking distance to a park, there isn't a whole lot of benefit in being a little closer to the theme parks.  Even at Caribbean Beach Resort, you'd still have to take a bus to the parks (or drive, depending on whether or not you will have a vehicle).

That said, there are a few other reasons why I would understand you switching to a moderate.  Those reasons include:

-more elaborate theming at a moderate resort
-the desire to have a sit-down meal on site at your resort
-more opportunities for recreation (boat/bike rentals)
    -elaborately themed pool
-themed pirate room (at Caribbean Beach Resort)

If those things sway you, then you might consider switching resorts.  But don't do it based on proximity alone; then it just wouldn't be worth it.

    Hope that helped!
