We are cruising for the 4th time on DCL - this time on the Dream. We have read about lounges for our 21 yr old and 15 yr old. What type of activities can our 18 yr old look forward to?

    Hi, Laurie!

You've almost achieved gold status as a Castaway Club Member! And, congratulations on your upcoming cruise on the Disney Dream -- she is as beautiful and spectacular as you've been hearing, and I can't wait for you to have your turn to sail!

Your 18- and 21-year-olds can have access to any of the amenities available to adults -- Senses Spa & Salon, Quiet Cove Pool, lounges, bars, clubs and adult-only areas such as Palo and Remy or Serenity Bay at Castaway Cay.  Obviously, the 18-year-old will not be able to consume alcohol, but the bars and clubs have a way to identify young guests. Pay attention to your Personal Navigator for opportunities and events for this age group to meet, mix and mingle with one another.

Of course, you may already know that you're going to have a hard time getting your 15-year-old out of Vibe -- the teens-only area which boasts video games, movies, karaoke, a smoothie bar and an outside pool area. The kids can come and go in this area. Therefore, I recommend arming your teen with one of the wave phones from your stateroom. Otherwise, it may be difficult to find this particular member of your group!

If, by chance, your 18-year-old is still in high school or on the younger side and would feel more comfortable in the teen area, talk to the counselors at Vibe on Embarkation Day and let your middle child explore Vibe at the Open House. The Youth Activities Programs strive to create an environment where everyone feels welcome and comfortable. Therefore, if you feel that being with the college-age kids may be too much for your 18 year old, s/he may feel more at ease hanging with the younger set.

I hope this helps you plan and gets you excited about your upcoming trip. Have a wonderful day and a magical vacation. Bon voyage!
