Cruising in Nov, retruning at 7:30am Friday; Staying in Disney 2 nites post cruz. Looking for best bet to maximize time in the park. Can we get our luggage checked straight through to the resort (while we head directly to MK)? How long is ride to ArtO'A

    Ahoy, Gina!

What a great sea and land vacation you've got planned... it will feel like the magic keeps going! On disembarkation day, once the ship is cleared by US Customs at around 7:30am, you will be free to exit the gangway immediately after. You'll be heading into the baggage claim area and you'll need to fall in line and clear US Customs. Once you've been cleared, you'll be taking your luggage with you to the motor coach loading dock if you are taking advantage of the Disney Cruise Line Ground Transportation to take you to your Disney Resort. If you are using another mode of ground transfer, then you will need to exit to the right of the port terminal where private shuttles and taxis are able to pick up passengers.

The ride to Disney's Art of Animation Resort will usually be about an hour or so, depending on traffic and other shuttle stops. My family will usually take Disney Cruise Line's Ground Transfer to our Disney Hotel, to check in. The room will likely not be ready yet (too early), so we will usually leave our luggage at bell services - do not lose the claim stub. We then make our way to Magic Kingdom to get our sea legs used to walking on dry land again. You can easily take the complimentary busses from your hotel to one of the Disney Parks, or you can take a taxi cab or use the Uber of Lyft app to get a ride.

If you get out of the Port early enough that morning, you can usually expect to get into the parks in the late morning. You've got the whole day and evening to enjoy Magic Kingdom! Once you return to your Disney Hotel and get into your room, you can just call guest services to deliver your luggage.

I would highly suggest planning your day at the parks using FastPass+ and choosing your top attraction choices early. You can do this 60 days before your Resort check-in date. This way, you can maximize your time at the park. Make sure to download the My Disney Experience App too if your have a smart phone.
