Cruising on the Fantasy on 11/28/15. Never been on a cruise and I am worried about motion sickness. I have problems with and I was wondering can you feel the boat move?

    Ahoy, Rebecca!

I'm happy to hear you've booked a cruise on the gorgeous Disney Fantasy for November! While they haven't announced the 2015 dates yet, hopefully you'll be sailing during Disney Cruise Line's Very Merrytime Cruises, which were a big success this year. I heard such wonderful things!

I'm sorry to hear you struggle with motion sickness - it's certainly  a common concern for many cruisers. While I normally don't have any serious issues with queasiness, I do feel a little bit "off" when I cruise. Luckily, I've gotten some helpful hints that I can pass along to you to help avoid seasickness and help keep your cruise more than magical!

When it comes to your stateroom, keep in mind that you'll feel less motion on the lower decks, and in the center of the ship. A view of the horizon can be helpful when adjusting to the motion of the ship, so try to avoid an inside cabin. Remember, it may take a day or two to adjust to the movement of the ship. Also, always remember the power of fresh air - it can make all the difference if you start feeling woozy!

I rely on low doses of non-drowsy Dramamine during the day to help me feel steady until I get my sea legs. A friend that cruised with us had really good luck with sea bands. (tight-fitting wristbands that hit pressure points on the wrist to help with nausea and motion sickness - available in most pharmacies.) I've also seen many a cruiser wearing seasickness patches. You might want to speak with your physician before you sail to get other suggestions for preventing any motion sickness.

I hope this helps! Please come back and visit us here on the Moms Panel page if you have any further questions. Have a magical day! - Diane W.
