We have a cruise and disney vacation package coming up in May and I am planning the park visit. Will I be able to make a 1pm lunch reservation at a disney park on the same day my cruise returns to port at 9am?

Welcome aboard, Marguerite! You must be so excited to set sail with Disney Cruise Line in just a couple more months!

A 1:00 p.m. lunch reservation shouldn't be a problem on the day your return. Let me tell you a little bit about how debarkation works on that last morning. Guests who have had first dining for dinner will be assigned a 6:45 a.m. breakfast time and guests with second seating for dinner will be assigned an 8:00 a.m. breakfast that morning. Of course, you're always welcome to skip it and just grab a quick bite at the buffet on your own. All guests must be off the ship by 9:00 a.m. But, the ship is normally cleared for disembarkation by about 7:30 a.m. At that time, guests using Express Checkout can leave the ship. These are guests who are carrying all of their own luggage off the ship. Next, other guests can begin to leave by around 7:45 or 8:00. You'll have left your luggage out the night before for Cast Members to pick up, so if you're ready, I suggest heading off in that first group so you can get a head start on getting to the parks.

You'll leave the ship, go into a warehouse area to pick up your luggage, go through customs and then head outside to board your Disney Cruise Line ground transfer. Be sure to book this in advance if you haven't already done so. Plan about half and hour to an hour to get through all of that (depending on how many guests head off the ship right away with you), then get on your motorcoach. Once the motorcoach for your particular resort is full, they'll begin the trip which takes about an hour, but can stop at up to three different resorts. You'll be checking in at your resort and leaving your luggage since your room probably won't be ready (though you could be lucky and find it all ready for you!), then you can head over to the parks!

I hope those details help as you continue planning, Marguerite! Stop back if you have other questions before you set sail!
