How crowded are the parks around Dec 26-31st? I will be traveling with a 5yr old 6 yr old 12 yr old and 1 yr old. Also is there a good way to save during this time we have never been before and are on a budget Thank you for your help.

    Hi Brooke,

The week between Christmas and New Year's is one of the most exciting at Walt Disney World -- but it is also one of the most crowded times of the year. The independent website TouringPlans.com rates crowd levels from 1 to 10, with 10 being the highest, based on past trends. That entire week is rated as a 10.

Because the holidays are very popular, the room rates tend to be highest around that time as well.

Besides rooms and admission, your largest expense likely will be food. The Disney Dining Plans can help you save money over paying out of pocket for each meal. Or you may find that you will want to bring food and pack snacks or lunches to take inside the parks as a cost-savings.

If that is the only time you can visit, you can still have a wonderful time. It will just take a little more planning to be sure your family is able to experience all their "must-do" rides and attractions. If you are flexible on your timing, you will find that rates drop significantly during January, and crowds are light in January and February, except for holiday weekends.

I hope that helps. Please let me know if I can answer more questions to help you plan your vacation. I'm sure you will have a memorable vacation no matter when you visit. Enjoy!
